Chetan Ghate received his Ph.D in Economics in 1999 from Claremont Graduate School, California. He joined the Planning Unit Faculty in 2003. His research focuses on macroeconomic theory and policy, political economy, public finance and the economics of structural change. He is also interested in the role that political constitutions have on capital accumulation.

He teaches courses in macroeconomics, political economy, and macrodynamics.
