Master of Science in Quantitative Economics (MSQE) is a unique two-year program offered
by Planning Unit. Details of admission procedure can be found here.
We encourage students with good analytical skills to apply. Some of the advantages of the program
are:
- You will be taught by some of the best faculty in economics (see our faculty pages here).
- Student to faculty ratio in the MSQE program is 2:1 and class sizes are rarely above 20.
- Placement in some of the reputed private firms - some firms which have
visited us in last few years are, ICICI Bank,
HP Analytics, Genpact, DEShaw, McKinsey, Indian School of Business, ICICI Prudential, Opera Solutions, and many others.
Our campus placements have been consistently around 95%. For more information on campus placements, visit our Placement Cell.
- Opportunity to pursue higher studies - in recent years, our students got scholarships to go to New York University (NYU), Columbia University, Cornell University,
California Institute of Technology (Cal Tech), University of Texas at Austin, University of British Columbia for pursuing their PhDs.
- Campus hostel facility.
- A friendly and caring environment - students are served tea and "nimbu pani" during exams
to beat the stress, flexible office hours to contact faculty, faculty-student outings (party, cricket match etc.).
- A small batch size ensures a very cozy and friendly environment. Moreover, we take students of all backgrounds - last year, we had students from Economics, Physics, and Engineering backgrounds. This allows interaction with a diverse set
of students in small classes.
- Monthly stipend to meet daily expenses (subject to good academic performance).
- An active visitors program allows students to interact with the best faculty in the world - see our list of visitors
in the recent past here. Nobel laurates Joseph Stiglitz, Robert Aumann, Eric Maskin
have visited ISI in the past.
- A packed calendar of seminars throughout the academic year helps you get exposed to the cutting edge economic
research - see our seminar series page here.
