The tenth meeting of the Lectures on Probability and Stochastic Processes will be held at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore during December 13 - 16, 2015. There will be one minicourse :

  • Markov chains: Mixing time, cover time, and rate of escape by Yuval Peres, Microsoft Research, Redmond, U.S.A.

The videos of the lectures are available at the link https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCLYKVFyFqP3By8_TnfyotMw/videos.

Lectures will take place in rooms G01 and G21 (next to each other) of the old physics building. The schedule is here.

The Lectures on Probability and Stochastic Processes, colloquially known as LPS, was started in 2006. Since then, it has served as a platform to bring together researchers in probability from various corners in India. A brief history and the goal of the same can be found here.

Announcement for next year:

LPS XI will be held in Indian Statistical Institute, Delhi during November 25 - 29, 2016. The speakers for the same are the following.

Important notice:

The Indo-UK Workshop on Stochastic Partial Differential Equations and Applications will be held during December 9 - 19 at the same venue. To enable all participants to benefit from this wonderful opportunity, this year LPS has one speaker instead of the usual two. Further, there will be no clashes between lectures in the LPS and this event. It is hoped that most participants will plan their travel so as to attend both events.

Regular LPS attendees may note the following changes from the usual.

1) LPS will have no break on the the third day.
2) The usual cycle of Delhi-Bangalore-Kolkata is being reversed in direction.
3) We welcome students at masters level if they have good grasp of probability. Please recommend to any suitable ones you know.
