About

I am a Professor in the Economics and Planning Unit (EPU) at the Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), Delhi Centre. I received my Master's in Quantitative Economics from the Indian Statistical Institute and my Ph.D. from Iowa State University. I was previously a faculty member at the Research School of Economics, Australian National University (ANU), Canberra. I have also held visiting positions at the Indian Statistical Institute and at institutions abroad.

My broad area of research is the macroeconomic aspects of public finance, including pensions and social security, taxes, growth, and labor, among others.

I was associated with both the XVth and XVIth Finance Commissions of India. I currently serve on the newly formed Committee to Formulate Guidelines and Regulations under the National Pension System (NPS), constituted by the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) under the Ministry of Finance.

I am affiliated with the Centre for Advanced Macroeconomic Analysis (CAMA) at ANU and the Australian Research Council (ARC) Centre of Excellence in Population Ageing Research (CEPAR) at UNSW, Sydney. I also serve on the editorial board of the Journal of Asian Economics and Economic Modelling.
