Economics and Planning Unit

Master of Science in Quantitative Economics (MSQE) is a unique two-year program offered by Economics and Planning Unit. Details of admission procedure can be found here. We encourage students with good analytical skills to apply. Some of the advantages of the program are:

  • Student to faculty ratio in the MSQE program is 2:1 and class sizes are rarely above 20.
  • Placement in some of the reputed private firms - some firms which have visited us in last few years are, ICICI Bank, Goldman Sachs, HP Analytics, Genpact, DEShaw, Indian School of Business, ICICI Prudential, Opera Solutions, and many others.   • Opportunity to pursue higher studies - in recent years, our students got scholarships to go to Princeton University, University of Pennsylvania, New York University (NYU), Columbia University, University of Wisconsin, Rochester University, Kellogg School of Management (Northwestern University), University of Minnessota, Cornell University, California Institute of Technology (CalTech), London School of Economics, Pennsylvania State University, Ohio State University, University of Texas at Austin, University of British Columbia for pursuing their PhDs.
  • Stipends. Each student receives a monthly stipend of Rs. 5000, and a contingency grant of Rs. 5000 per year to buy books.
  • Campus hostel facility.
  • A friendly and caring environment - a mentoring system, where each student gets a faculty member as a mentor for guidance and advice, flexible office hours to contact faculty, faculty-student outings (party, cricket match etc.).
  • A small batch size ensures a very cozy and friendly environment. Moreover, we take students of all backgrounds - last year, we had students from Economics, Physics, and Engineering backgrounds. This allows interaction with a diverse set of students in small classes.
