πŸ“Œ ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

Join us for an intensive, five-day workshop designed to seamlessly integrate theoretical foundations with practical, applied demonstrations and hands-on tutorials for spatial statistics.

πŸŽ“ WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

  • This workshop is ideal for PhD students, postdocs, early career faculty, and advanced master’s students with a background in Statistics or Data Science.

  • Class size is capped at a maximum of 20 students. A screening procedure will be used.

πŸ“‹ PREREQUISITES & REQUIREMENTS

  • Participants must have completed introductory courses in Probability and Statistics.

  • Some prior programming experience, specifically with familiarity in R or Python.

  • A personal laptop is required for the afternoon tutorial sessions.

πŸ•’ DAILY SCHEDULE

  • 10:15 AM – 1:30 PM: The morning session features 3 1-hour long lectures (with breaks) on related topics in spatial statistics covering theory and application.

  • 1:30 PM – 3:00 PM: There will be a lunch break during this time.

  • 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM: The afternoon session is dedicated time for participants to work out practical in-class tutorials.

  • Day 1: Introduction to Spatial Statistics (and refresher of prerequisites)

  • Day 2: Background for Kriging

  • Day 3: Inferential strategies

  • Day 4: Introduction to different spatial models for different types of data

  • Day 5: Big Data, Deep Learning Models, and Spatial Extremes
