I will discuss recent progress on a variety of old and new problems in hypergraph Ramsey theory. These include classical Ramsey numbers, and various questions of Erdos, Hajnal, Gyarfas and Rogers dating back to the 1970s. Most of the new results I will describe involve constructions that include a combination of random and deterministic methods
