q-deformations of compact Lie groups as Compact Quantum Groups.
Abstract of Talk
The aim of this talk is to describe the passage from Quantized Universal Enveloping Algebras (due to Drinfeld, Jimbo et. al ) to the C^*-algebraic formulation of compact quantum groups (due to Woronowicz, Vaksman, Soibelman et al). We give a brief description of both and then illustrate this connection in the case of the quantum SU(2) group.
