Installing MikTeX in Windows machines

1  Collect the source files

If you do not have winzip, then download winzip80.exe and install it by double clicking on it.

Copy the following files in your HD:

miktex2.0.zip (miktex)
mt20up1.exe (miktex update)
gsv27550.exe (ghostview - ps viewer)
ar40eng.exe (acrobat reader, for pdf files)
ntl480(1).zip (notetab editor)
TeXniques.clb (notetab add-on for TeX editing)

2  Installation of MikTeX

Unzip (using winzip) miktex2.0.zip in a separate directory. Double-click on the file setupwiz.exe, keep clicking on the `next' button.

Double click on the file mt20up1.exe. This will install the update package.

3  Installation of Ghostview

double click on gsv27550.exe and keep clicking on 'next' or 'setup' button.

4  Installation of Acrobat reader

double click on ar40eng.exe and keep clicking on the 'next' button.

5  Installation of NoteTab

Create an empty directory, say, temp. Unzip ntl480(1).zip in this directory. There will be a file 'setup.exe'. Double click on it, and keep clicking on the 'next' button. Put the TeXniques.clb file in the following directory: c:\Program Files\ NoteTab Light\Libraries

6  Autoexec.bat

Finally, edit the file 'autoexec.bat' in the c:\ directory - If there is a line that starts like ``set path= ...'' then add the following at the end of that line: ``;c:\gstools\gsview'' In case you dont find any line starting with ``set path=...'', add the following line: ``set path=c:\gstools\gsview''

Now reboot the machine. Run NoteTab, click on the ``Tools->Open clipbook'' menu and a narrow window appears on the left. Click on the downarrow on top of this smaller window and select ``TeXniques''. Everything should work fine now.
