BACKGROUND & OBJECTIVES :

The objective of this conference is to bring together persons engaged in theoretical developments in various areas of statistical quality control and those engaged in actual use of these techniques in industry on a common platform and to deliberate on the recent developments in theory as well as practical applications of various tools, techniques and methodologies.


ABOUT THE INSTITUTE :

The Indian Statistical Institute, founded in the year 1931 by Late Prof. P.C. Mahalanobis, FRS, is an Institute of National Importance as declared by an Act of the Parliament.  It is an Institute of academic excellence offering educational courses at Graduate, Post-graduate and Research level and contributing significantly in fundamental as well as applied research in statistics, economics, computer science and mathematics.

The Statistical Quality Control & Operations Research Division of the Institute is engaged in Research, Teaching, Training and Consultancy to industries through 10 units located in different parts of the country.  This division is pioneer in promoting use of statistical methods in Indian industries and till date has trained over 1.5 lakh managers, engineers and operators from industry in Statistical Quality Control, Quality Management and Systems, Reliability and Operations Research.  More than three thousand industries have received consultancy services from the division.   The division organizes a full time M.Tech program in QC & OR.
