Role: We are seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant to join our team for a new project as part of the Climate Policy for Development (CPfD) Collaborative, within the Environment for Development Initiative (EfD) program, hosted at CECFEE. This project is a collaborative effort between CECFEE, University of Gothenburg, Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research and the EfD Centres in Nigeria and Kenya.
The successful candidate will be responsible for project management, project coordination, and facilitation between the project partners. In addition, the candidate will assist with various aspects of the research process, including data collection and analysis, implementing a Randomised Controlled Trial, and project-related administrative tasks. The role will additionally entail policy engagement with local government stakeholders on topics related to energy efficiency and clean energy transitions.

Roles and Responsibilities:
- Project management, coordination and facilitation, including organising and contributing to project meetings.
- Designing field-based surveys to collect data on fuel prices in Nigeria and Kenya in collaboration with the EfD centres.
- Pilot design of an RCT on energy efficiency interventions, in a collaborative effort with a government department, in New Delhi.
- Collect, organize, and analyse microdata using appropriate statistical and computational tools in Stata, R or Python.
- Assist in writing research reports, grant proposals, and policy briefs.
- Assist in organizing workshops/conferences and other administrative tasks as required.
- The candidate may be assigned any additional duties as deemed suitable for the role.
Eligibility Requirements
- Master’s degree in Economics or related fields.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as STATA, R or Python.
- Strong quantitative research skills with experience in data analysis and statistical software.
- Proficiency in writing technical reports, blog posts, and policy briefs.
- Proficiency in extracting and handling large datasets is highly desirable.
- Previous work experience in research or policy institutions is highly desirable.
- Excellent project management skills, as demonstrated through previous experience, are highly desirable.
