Chitra Balasubramanian is a Senior Economist at the India Sustainable Growth Hub (ISGH), a joint initiative of the Indian Statistical Institute, Delhi, and the International Growth Centre (IGC). The Hub works to strengthen India’s capacity for low-carbon, sustainable growth by combining rigorous domestic research with global expertise. Prior to joining ISGH, Chitra worked as a researcher at the World Bank, where her research focused on the intersection of climate and poverty, and at J-PAL (the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab), where she contributed to evidence-based research aimed at understanding and addressing poverty. She holds a Master of Public Policy from the University of California, Berkeley.
