Applications of stable polynomials to matix inequalities
Abstract of Talk
Polynomials in one variable with only real roots abound in many diverse
areas, particularly so in combinatorics. A multivariate generalization
of such polynomials has been very effectively used in a recent
approach, developed by Borcea and Branden, and their work has
resulted in spectacular solutions to several long standing problems.
We describe some of this work pertaining to permanents, mixed determinants
and mixed discriminants.
