Fifth Lectures on Probability and Stochastic Processes

December 23 - 27, 2010 at ISI, Bangalore

The fifth meeting was held in ISI, bangalore in December 2010. The two mini courses were given by

  • Krishanu Maulik, ISI, Kolkata, India (On Heavy Tailed Distributions) and
  • S. R. S. Varadhan, Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences, New York, USA (On Schramm Loewner Evolution).

In this workshop it was generally believed that the LPS group is maturing. We had over seventy five participants including about forty research scholars and graduate students. The number of posters also increased to a total of ten posters. This time we started giving a prize in form of books to the best poster determined by a (undisclosed) jury consisting of some of the LPS participants. The Best Poster Award for 2011 went to Mr. Rajat S. Hazra of Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata for his work on "An inverse problem on randomly wighted series".
