Ninth Lectures on Probability and Stochastic Processes

December 12 - 16, 2013 at ISI, Kolkata

The ninth meeting was held in ISI, Kolkata in December 2014. We had a large number of participants (over 65) who enthusiastically participated in all the events. The two mini courses were given by

There were a total of fifteen poster presentations by graduate students. The undisclosed jury selected the following poster as the best poster.

  • Kartick Adhikari, IISc, Bangalore
Title: Gap Probabilities in the Infinite Ginibre Ensemble

  • Ayan Bhattacharya, ISI, Kolkata
Title: Point Process Convergence for Branching Random Walk with Heavy-tailed Step Size

On the break day the participants enjoyed a guided walk in the northern part of the city and saw many of the historic buildings from the colonial past including the famous "Thakurbari" (the house of the celebrated poet Gurudeb Rabindranath Tagore). The walk was conducted by the Kolkata Chapter of the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH)

The workshop was generously funded by the National Board of Higher Mathematics and Theoretical Statistics and Mathematics Division of the Indian Statistical Institute. We thank both the organizations for their support.
