Eighth Lectures on Probability and Stochastic Processes

December 6 - 10, 2013 at ISI, Bangalore

The eighth meeting was held in ISI, Bangalore in December 2013. We had a large number of participants (over 55) who enthusiastically participated in all the events. The two mini courses were given by

  • Vivek Borkar, IIT, Mumbai, India (Ergodicity of diffusions and controlled diffusions) and
  • Parthanil Roy, ISI, Kolkata, India (Nonsingular Group Actions, Finitely Generated Abelian Groups and Stable Random Fields).

There were a total of seven poster presentations by graduate students. The undisclosed jury selected the following poster as the best poster.

  • Kumarjit Saha, Indian Statistical Institute, Delhi Centre
Title: Some Quantitative Estimates in a Drainage Network Model

On the break day the participants enjoyed s trip to the near by 400 year old Banyan Tree and lake regeneration projects at Puttenhalli Lake and Kaikondrahalli Lake.

The workshop was generously funded by the National Board of Higher Mathematics and Theoretical Statistics and Mathematics Division of the Indian Statistical Institute. We thank both the organizations for their support.
