Seventh Lectures on Probability and Stochastic Processes

November 30 - December 4, 2012 at ISI, Delhi

The seventh meeting was held in ISI, Delhi in end of November and early December 2012. We had a large number of participants (over 50) who enthusiastically participated in all the events. The two mini courses were given by

  • Nina Gantert, Technische Universität München, Germany (Random walks, random media and branching) and
  • Anish Sarkar, ISI, Delhi, India (Directed trees and their limits).

There were a total of nine poster presentations by graduate students. The undisclosed jury selected the following two posters as the best posters.

  • Mustafa Khandwawala, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore
Title: Belief Propagation for Optimal Edge-Cover in the Random Complete Graph

  • Kumarjit Saha, Indian Statistical Institute, Delhi Centre
Title: Directed Spanning Forest and Brownian Web

On the break day the participants enjoyed a heritage walk of the famous Tughluqabad Fort. The walk was conducted by the Delhi Chapter of the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH).

The workshop was generously funded by the National Board of Higher Mathematics and Theoretical Statistics and Mathematics Division of the Indian Statistical Institute. We thank both the organizations for that.
